Winter Golf – please let it be Spring
Well that seemed to me to be a very long and cold, damp, snowy Winter! After Emma and the Beast and the Mini Beast from the East, I am hoping that Spring has now finally sprung and the conditions improve for golf.
The one consistent part of my game for the last 3-4 months has been my headgear. “Bob’ll mainly be wearing a Bobble hat”. And the fleece lining on this one has been very beneficial through the Preferred Lies/Winter Greens and whatever the weather has thrown at me. As have my collection of Bunker shirts and Jackets, layering certainly keeps the cold out.
I shouldn’t really moan because our green keepers at Hazlemere GC have managed to keep us out playing most of the Winter months, with only 4-6 inches of snow stopping us twice since the New Year. We have even managed to squeeze in a few Qualifying Winter Stableford competitions and as the new HGC Handicap Secretary I have been kept busy. The relaxation of the number of Supplementary Cards you can now submit has increased my workload but at least the Club V1 system is in the cloud and I can do the work from home.
Reflecting on my own winter I have put in a lot of practice with Lizzie Fremantle at ABGolf in Thame and with Gavin Cousins our Club Pro. Been fitted for a new driver. Hoping it all pays off later in the season as I have now retired from full time work and have more time to play.
And so another year of #teambunker beckons. Thanks to Jack and Tom back at Bunker HQ for all their help and advice. Thanks to all the other #Ambassadors for posting here and elsewhere on Social Media, always good to hear what others are up to. I will certainly be posting frequently on Twitter @scobbert : Instagram: Facebook . Good luck everyone and “Wear it well”. Summer is Coming!
