Spider-Man: I'm addicted to golf

It's not very often that golf comes out in the lead up to box-office films being release but Spider-Man, aka Tom Holland, has again reiterated his love of the game as he's been promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The film is out on December 17 and Holland has been speaking about the invaluable role that golf plays in his hectic life.

"Playing golf is what I do. I'm addicted to golf and had I not been addicted to golf, I would have had a very different career," said the 25-year-old. "It's a nice way to disconnect from what's going on around you. I turn my phone off and I just enjoy being outdoors with my friends, my brothers and my dad.

"And golf is also incredibly humbling. Over the last few years, I've been very lucky that my career has taken twists and turns, but all the kind of twists and turns that I could only have dreamed of. And very often, I'll go out and play golf to celebrate, and it will very, very quickly humble me by destroying me. So, that's why golf is valuable."

Holland, who plays off 5, hit the golfing headlines earlier this year when he very nearly 'made the Ryder Cup team' in a joke bet with European skipper Padraig Harrington.

At the PGA pro-am at Wentworth the Dubliner asked Holland what his motivation was for pulling out the driver when faced with a shot of 260 yards to the 18th green.

Holland responded by saying he wanted to make the Ryder Cup team, and the two shook on it. And he nearly pulled it off, ending up in the greenside bunker.
