Why Merino Wool is the best for golf
Function, technical, performance… the first words you hear anytime a brand talks about their latest polyester golf tops. Some are better than others, but none are as good as merino wool.
The Merino is an breed of sheep prized for its wool. The breed origins are from Spain, but the modern Merino mainly comes from Australia. Today, Merinos’ are regarded as having some of the finest and softest wool of any sheep and is excellent at regulating body temperature. The wool provides warmth, without overheating the wearer. It draws moisture (sweat) away from the skin, which results in helping the wearer stay comfortable whether it be in warm or cold conditions. Merino is also naturally antibacterial (non smelly) which means you can pack lighter and wash less.
When it comes to playing golf in autumn or winter (or if you are in the UK sometimes during summer!) you need the best products to keep you warm which is why we always recommend merino wool. Nobody likes being cold out on the golf course as it takes the focus off your game, so wearing merino knitwear is the first step to improving your game. The key to making the great clothing is to use the best materials and merino wool is peerless when it comes to performance: keeping you warm when its cold and cool when its hot. Polyester cannot compete with this wonder of nature in our opinion. Wool is also great for performance golf with its natural four way stretch. Of course it looks great when designed well providing ‘style and performance’ you can wear wherever you choose.
We design all our clothing to be built for performance and ‘style’ because to us golf is a game that should be played in some style. This season we have a v-neck style in two great marl colours ( dark navy & deep red ) with fine details, off the shoulder fine contrast stripes, the cuffs with ‘double’ rib for extra comfort and warmth around the wrists. On the v-neck we have a fine detailed contrast tipping and finished off with our silicon Bunker shield logo. All our merino garments are made using machine washable yarns.
We think you’ll love these golf jumpers, especially as everyone loves a wonderful piece of knitwear in their wardrobe…it’s a menswear essential
