Spieth caps off fantastic year by becoming a dad

Jordan Spieth became a father this week when he announced on Thursday that he and his wife Annie had had a little boy called Sammy. They first revealed that Annie was expecting in September having tied the knot in 2018 – the couple were high school sweethearts.

It’s been quite a year for Spieth. He was as low as 92nd in the world rankings after a missed cut at Torrey Pines before rediscovering his form with a bundle of top-five finishes and that win in Texas in April which was his first since the 2017 Open at Birkdale. In the majors the 28-year-old was 3rd at Augusta and 2nd in the Open at Sandwich before being part of the victorious American Ryder Cup team. He recently re-entered the world’s top 10 having not been part of this top table since the back end of 2018.

Come the end of the 2021 season he had posted nine top 10s, earns over $6.4m and went 1-21-1 at Whistling Straits.

And now he’s a dad..
