From The Bunker: Tiger and Turkey Still keeping Golf Alive in 2017
For most of us, the golf season has about come to an end now. Those winter layers are coming out of the wardrobe and frost greens are looming on the horizon.
One man though is about to warm up the golfing world. Pretty sure most people are now aware of the comeback of Tiger Woods. While his name has been more associated with his off course antics in recent times, simply seeing his name on a golfing leader board still intimidates fellow competitors and we cannot wait to see him back in action. Whether or not we see him slipping on another green jacket by the time April comes is a different matter (he’d look better in a Bunker Blue one anyway), but to see him on that first tee will soon grab everyone’s attention.

The European Tour is just reaching its peak; just two more weeks until the Race to Dubai comes to a climax, with several household names vying for the top spot…..and handsome pay check or two.
This week sees the Turkish Airlines Open – an event we’re very fond of here at Bunker HQ having sponsored it 2 years ago. The lure of big money and big points (not to mention crucial Ryder Cup points) has attracted a number of the world’s top professionals, including last week’s winner Justin Rose.
His miracle back nine comeback to beat world number 1 Dustin Johnson in the HSBC Champions event in China got the world talking once more about the Englishman, and it’d be hard to overlook him again this week. He isn’t the only Ryder Cup player in the field this week, with the likes of Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood and Ian Poulter turning out, the Turkish Airlines Open almost has a major feel about it this year. Watch out as well for Andy Sullivan and Andrew “Beef” Johnston, two of England’s brightest and charismatic stars.
Our pick of the week though would be another Englishman – Tyrrell Hatton. Two wins in October makes him one of the most in form golfers in the world. Certainly wouldn’t mind being a couple of quid behind him!
