Feherty the next big move to LIV Golf

It's been another huge week for LIV Golf and there was more good news for the Saudi-backed series as David Feherty also signed up. Feherty has been one of the brightest and funniest voices in the game in recent years and the veteran commentator has now joined up with Greg Norman's breakaway tour.

The commentary thus far has been 'mixed' and Feherty adding some much-needed sparkle and nouse will bring in plenty of viewers as well as adding an air of golf as we know it. The 63-year-old, who has worked as an analyst and on-course reporter for NBC Sports and Golf Channel, was an on-course reporter for PGA Tour events on CBS from 1997 until 2015.

As a player he was very much part of Norman's era, winning five times in Europe from 1986-92 as well as playing on the European Ryder Cup team at Kiawah Island.

Feherty was working for NBC as recently as last week's Open and he is perhaps best known for his eponymous 'Feherty' show on Golf Channel which ran from 2011-2021 and provided some brilliant one-to-one interviews.

“We thank David for his numerous contributions to Golf Channel and NBC Sports’ golf coverage for more than a decade, and we wish him well in the future,” an NBC Sports spokesperson told Golf Digest.

LIV Golf has six events left this year with the next one next week Trump National in New Jersey from July 29-31 where Henrik Stenson will make his debut.

“As a storyteller, this is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to help write a new chapter in this sport’s history,” said Feherty. “LIV Golf is developing ideas and innovations that are going to grow the audience and engage the next generation of players and fans. I’m excited by the energy LIV Golf is creating and I’m eager to contribute to a world class broadcast production that has a vision towards the future.”

Feherty will join the three-person broadcast team of two other former NBC commentators, including former BBC football commentator Arlo White and former Golf Channel reporter Jerry Foltz. Former Asian Tour player Dom Boulet has been the third member of the team and coverage will be shown on YouTube.
