The Robin Hood Beer Festival 2014
If you have been a following Bunker Mentality for any length of time you will have noticed that as well as our love of golf we also have a very deep love of great, locally brewed ales. One of the biggest dates in our diary is in October when we spend a couple of days at the Robin Hood Nottingham Beer Festival and this is our 5th year in a row. The festival is held in the grounds of Nottingham Castle, right in the centre of the city.
This festival has grown dramatically over the years as ale has become very fashionable with a younger audience. No longer the preserve of the old, hairy, big bellied guys but much more a broad age range as the appeal of ale grows stronger and stronger. This year there will be over 1000 craft beers to be tried, a challenge that we may just have the ‘mentality’ to attack.
Beer and ale have been traditional and wholesome beverages for well over 2,000 years, and many styles are indigenous and unique to the British Isles. Brewers seek to preserve these traditional styles and their traditional methods of production, whilst at the same time demonstrating the skill of their craft through creativity, invention and innovation. All this and more will be at the Nottingham Beer Festival from 8th to the 11th of October 2014.
If you have the chance you should try it out…
