PGA Tour Player Makes Most Unlikely Hole-In-One

 Hideki Matsuyama is renowned for his one-handed finishes that finish adjacent to the hole but this was taking things on to another level.

At the 11th hole on day one of the Rocket Mortgage Classic Mark Hubbard struck a 4-iron that he disliked so much that he dropped his club immediately after impact.

The thing was that the ball continued on line which led to his playing partner Wyndham Clark to mutter: “Dude, that better not go in.”

Needless to say the ball then travelled the 216 yards and dropped in for his ninth ace of his career. 

"I think that's probably going to end up being one of my favourite hole-in-ones I ever had just because of the situation," the 33-year-old said. “None of them even gave me high-fives after.

“I mean, honestly, it was pretty embarrassing,” he said after signing for a 68 before shooting a 74 to miss out on the weekend. “Didn't quite know where the ball was going. Taking a week off and whatever I just didn't feel as spot on and I think I let go of the club on about three of the last four shots as well and they all ended up OK. I just felt really stuck and I thought it was going to be way right of the green.

“I looked up and it was a perfect one-yard draw. It landed and trickled in like a putt."

Hubbard's brother, Nathan, tweeted afterward, "my brother is an idiot."
