DeChambeau reportedly offered outlandish sum to front Super Golf League

The silly-season money rumours continued this week with Bryson DeChambeau’s possible involvement in the Saudi-backed Super Golf League being rumoured to be around a ridiculous $240,000,000. Yes, 240 million.

 Tiger Woods’ current career earnings sit at half that figure, Phil Mickelson is next on the list at $94m while DeChambeau is 61st on the list with $26m on-course earnings. Of course there will be all sorts of off-course incomings but the money that the Super Golf League appear to be offering is off the charts and, no matter what appearance fees or other initiatives are offered, it’s in a different ball park.

The news came via YouTuber Peter Finch, who is at this week’s PGA Tour event, and he tweeted: “Update on this, sources on the ground here in the USA are saying the figure is closer to $240,000,000….yes you read that correctly.”

This is all hearsay, the last DeChambeau rumour that we heard, was £135m to be the face of the whole thing which the American denied.

Ian Poulter has reportedly been offered in the region of £30m to join up and the figures, and names, will likely keep coming.

 What we do know is that a number of players have signed non-disclosure agreements regarding the Saudi Golf League so we might get some sort of announcement sooner rather than later.
