Thomas: Tiger's going to want to try to play again
It still remains one of the biggest questions in the game – will we see Tiger Woods back playing tournament golf?
Woods had undergone a fifth back operation in December 2020 before suffering severe leg, ankle and foot injuries in that horrific car accident in Los Angeles in February. Woods has offered nothing but we have seen him with his son, Charlie, at a junior tournament leaning on a golf club and without any assistance.
Justin Thomas has been visiting Woods at his South Florida home regularly and he told the No Laying Up podcast that the possibility is very much there of giving it a go.
"He knows that there's a pretty good chance that that was the last chance he really ever had, before that, of making another run," Thomas said, "but at the same time, I know how determined he is and I know he's going to want to at least try to give something again. Obviously I hope he does. But at the same time, as I said after the accident, as long as he can be a dad and be normal with that again, that's the No. 1 priority, and the rest of this is a bonus.
"He's still his sarcastic-ass self, so nothing has changed there, so I'm glad to see that he's still chipper as always."
Thomas added that Woods has been able to lead a pretty regular lifestyle of watching his kids.
"I mean, it's 'Groundhog Day,'" Thomas said. "Every day's the exact same thing for him. But at least he's able to -- pictures were going around of him at Charlie's tournament, [his daughter] Sam's soccer tournaments here and there. He's able to be a dad somewhat again, which is most important."
The hope is that we will get to see Woods at his Hero World Challenge event in the Bahamas next month. If he does that would be his first public appearance since the crash.
Without getting ahead of ourselves Woods has won 82 PGA Tour titles and needs just one more victory to surpass Sam Snead.
