South hits the jackpot with EuroPro 59
If ever there was a time and a place to shoot 59 then Jack South produced it. Playing in the EuroPro Tour's Motocaddy Masters title at Leven Links the Tippity Green golfer put together a brilliant round of 11 under to land the first prize of £12,500 along with two stunning bonuses.
First there was a £59,000 bonus from the EuroPro Tour and, even better, was an additional £60,000 from sponsors Cobra Puma Golf - South is part of the Cobra Puma NXT LVL Squad and with that claimed their bonus for shooting a 60 or better for £60,000.
Welshman Jack Davidson very nearly equalled the magical landmark when he posted a 60 to finish third but the day belonged to South. After rounds of 64-67 he went out in 27 after collecting seven birdies, added three more at 11, 12 and 14 which meant that he needed just one more birdie over the final four holes of the Scottish links.
That came at the 16th and two pars got the job done.
He said: “Just out of this world. It’s a phenomenal feeling It’s been such a hard year, I’ve worked so hard without any reward. I just said the same thing all day when I felt the pressure, just put a good stroke on it and keep your head down.
“My fiancé and I Samantha have got a little boy coming in January, I found out that last week it’s just motivated me so much to get to where I want to be, thank you to the EuroPro for giving us this opportunity week in week out. She was crying on the phone.
"I went for it, the course is fantastic, the spectators, the members, the pros and captains, they’ve been so welcoming. We’ve had the perfect sunny day. I didn’t think it was possible to win that on the EuroPro let alone in a day, the sponsors Cobra Puma putting up a bonus for us and the EuroPro, I can’t put it into words, it’s almost like a win on the main tour isn’t it? Onwards and upwards.”
South also won a M5 GPS trolley along with a laser for recording the most birdies/eagles over the three days.
