Rahm on top of the 2021 major men
This sideshow is always one of the most fun ways to gauge who was the strongest player in the year’s major (of those who made the cut in all four). We’ve had a whopping seven majors in the past year but, in 2021, Jon Rahm has comfortably led the way at -24 having finished in the top 10 in all four.
For a bit of reference Tiger Woods ‘only’ managed that twice though he did win three in 2000, his worst finish was 5th at Augusta, before going 1-2-1-4 in 2005.
The Spaniard led Collin Morikawa and Louis Oosthuizen by five strokes with a resurgent Jordan Spieth in fourth. Morikawa improved with every showing – 18-8-4-1 – as he topped off his Open debut with his brilliant win at St George’s.
For Oosthuizen he didn’t finish outside the top three in the last three but he’s yet to add to his Open win in 2011 – conversely Phil Mickelson lost to 212 golfers in three of the majors but still added to his haul with his incredible win at Kiawah Island.
Brooks Koepka, the man you would likely put your house on in the big ones, missed the cut at the Masters before then going 2-4-6.
