Is Tiger Set To Make Competitive Return In November?

Tiger Woods has played in two PGA Tour events this year with his last start coming at Augusta where he withdrew after rounds of 74-73. Before that he played at Riviera where he did play the weekend and finished the week in red figures in a tie for 45th.

Now there is a chance that the 15-time Major winner might tee it up again at his own World Challenge which takes place in the Bahamas at the end of November.

To date 19 of the 20-man field has been announced, with eight of the world's top 10 playing, and Woods might be the last piece in the jigsaw. The current World No. 1269 had ankle surgery just after The Masters after noticeably struggling with the hills in Georgia but he has been seen in recent times on social media which, historically, has led to some good news.

Two weeks ago there was footage of Woods playing with his son Charlie at The Hay, a par-3 course at Pebble Beach which he helped redesign in 2021, where he was hosting the TGR Jr Invitational. He was also seen hitting full wedge shots and the hope is that he will now round out the field in six weeks.

Intriguingly the final spot is listed as 'Tournament Exemption TBA'.

As things stand there is already a welcome comeback with the return of Will Zalatoris. The American will be making his first PGA Tour start since going under the knife in April for back surgery.

Woods last played in his own event in 2019, where he finished fourth, and Viktor Hovland will be going for a thid straight win. The Norwegian will be joined by his Ryder Cup team-mates Matt Fitzpatrick and Sepp Straka. Of the American side only Brooks Koepka will be missing.
