Some time ago we were looking for something that was a very British pattern to bring it into the golf arena as we were looking to create a very ‘Modern British Golf’ shirt.
Now in our 7th year of designing our own paisley patterns they are as popular as ever. The paisley pattern has a long history in British fashion, from the 60’s through to today where it is still popular and stylish.
The pattern is associated with the Scotland and the town that inspire its name Paisley. However the pattern actually originated in ancient Persia. The distinctive design is called a ‘butter’ and was initially used on royal garments, including crowns. Experts believe the teardrop design was meant to represent the cypress tree, a symbol of prosperity back then.
“One should either be a work of art or wear work of art’, said the famously flamboyant Oscar Wilde about the paisley patter. Dress up or down, this design is very popular for those looking for something a little different in their golf shirts.
